Here's the actual transcript :
"The Walking Dead: Seed (#3.1)" (2012) Daryl Dixon: We should go back. Carol Peletier: Could be romantic... wanna screw around? [Daryl gives her a look; Carol laughs] Daryl Dixon: [heads toward the ladder] I'll go down first. Carol Peletier: Even better! [laughs again]
Ahh! I totally thought he was playing along with her. I didn't even realize he meant that he was climbing down. Still, my original point remains the same. I wish they would explore his sexuality, whatever it may be.

No worries. He actually wasn't even playing along with her, she was making the sexual and romantic innuendos and he was totally brushing her off.
He told her to go down on him. That's either flirting or sexual harassment
Daryl didn't tell her that. Carol said it.
The scene was Season 3, Episode 1. He rubbed her hurt shoulder, she said "That was pretty romantic, wanna screw around?". He went "pfft". Then he started to climb down off the bus and said "I'll go down first". Then SHE said "Even better". He clearly meant he would go down off the bus, she turned it to cunnilingus (which was pretty damn clever actually, I chuckled). But nope, he did not tell her to go down on him.
Exactly.... Carol is the one who keeps that crap up.... and he continues to shut her down....
I laughed at the scene, but for me it was more Norman & Melissa joking, then Daryl and Carol....it was the start of new Carol with no damn explanation as to what/why the change for her...
The only time Daryl said anything in a sexual nature was actually to Glen...and that was when they were moving the cars, he yelled to Glen, "Are you coming".... Rick, Carol, T-dog laughed and Glen looked stupid, but that was funny....

I think I'm a bad person because of that, but I never found it was him "brushing her off" (same for 4x01). He was reacting in a way my husband would react when I was making innuendos (and he would rarely brush me off): Not quite knowing what to say because he's insecure - three years into our marriage and still insecure, tell me about people that have a past of an abusive childhood.
That said, I think Daryl's reactions to basically all women who made an attempt at flirting with him passes him off as quite asexual. I don't think he has any interest in any of the women around him. This might change, however, as his asexuality stems from his childhood experience and, as he learns to trust people again, this part of him might also change. However, this is the main reason why I'm still against Daryl hooking up with anyone: To me, he actually comes off as someone who is asexual - I actually met quite a few people being "like that - and I like it. It's not that I have to see every good looking male on each show hook up with women...

I think he's terrified of those emotions right now just because he's never had a role model or influence for it in his past life. He has no clue how it works, and I don't blame him. But I do think he was brushing her off, I think he has zero interest in Carol in that way.
I think I'd say no to asexual. To me it's more the fact that Daryl is a survivalist. That's what he focuses on. I think he merely just doesn't have the time or inclination for those types of feelings and thinks the whole "love in the ZA" notion is ridiculous. I remember he said something to Beth & Zach in 4x1... something about getting a room or something. All his brush offs (I think he was brushing off Carol as well during the climbing down scene) and scoffs at any type of sexual innuendo or behavior where anyone is concerned tell me that he's focused and determined to keep his eye on the prize, so to speak. Surviving. I don't think that makes him asexual, though.

That's also a possibility. Although I still like to consider him asexual. I think it's definitely a possibility (same goes for your understanding).
*makes notes to find out whether she has a wrong understanding of "brushing off"*
I think the only thing that would possibly settle the discussion concerning his sexuality would be him hooking up - or a side off comment that he did at some point - else we just have to rely on our own interpretations.

I do halfway think he and Beth will share something; although it won't be adult and it won't be mature since they're both emotionally immature when it comes to this sort of things. I also halfway think that this could be the first amorous attachment he's ever formed and then, because it's TWD and happiness comes and goes like husbands to a Kardashian woman, Beth could die.
I think it will be cleared up in the next few episodes. If Daryl and Beth are completely alone long enough, it just wouldn't make sense that the topic wouldn't come up.

In terms of emotional maturity, it makes the most sense to me; not necessarily that there's an absolute NEED for it, but it's something that could propel it forward and even as bad as it sounds, as I hate the idea of someone used as a plot device for someone else, it would be an interesting segway for Daryl too, to see how he'd handle a loss of that magnitude.
I think Beth is going to have an arc in this back half, but in the process she will end up dying in service of Daryl (and Maggie). I hope she becomes a three-dimensional character and her death ends her storyline right rather than her just dying to develop Daryl.
