I can think of a lot of places they could go with Carol for many seasons to come. If the writers have absolutely no idea where to go with her after this, then that is just sad. I wouldn't put it past them, though. *sigh*Even Michael Rooker said they should have kept Merle around because of the potential of his character alone, and the storylines between he and Daryl, and even moreso between he and Glenn.
Oh that photograph was such a foreshadowing thing Calandra, agreed
Yeah, it did strike me that way. However, they seem to make it look like one or both of them is going to die all the time (it happened even more often in the GN), so I'm not quite convinced. And I really don't like the idea of killing Glenn since he was sidelined in 4A completely.

I still say Beth, Lilly, and kids.
I thought it was funny Rooker said that considering he knew, with his contract, that Merle was signed on for a limited number of episodes. They say they decided late that Merle would die, but Rooker knew that he had a limited amount of time.
Anyway, they could bring Carol back around, but I don't see how she could truly reintegrate with that group unless she REALLY swings back around, too.
My only reasoning for the proposition I put forth was because it would be a clever way to connect it to the source material, which Gimple loves. I think the whole Daryl/Carol thing is over though, that's for sure and I think they're pairing her with Tyreese to do just that. But if they don't change her attitude and such, I wouldn't be sad to see her die either.

I'm with you. I think there is a lot to explore, I just don't trust the writers in finding it. I know Scott Gimple is a good enough show runner (although I wasn't as overwhelmed as others were with him), but - honestly - I sometimes get the feelings that the writers are incapable of continuously writing good story lines for certain female characters (take Michonne out of that): Beth has alway been background, Lori was maddeningly inconsistent, Maggie was either bad ass or a b***, Andrea *sigh*, Carol was also a background character and the moment they put her forward they have to make her a murderer… I'm the last one to complain about female characters being treated badly, but this just strikes me as weird...
JMO, though.
And yes, foreshadowing… At least I hope so, because I would like for Glenn/Maggie to lose each other. Not because their whole love story bores me to death (it IS a factor, though), but because I'd like to see the impact of this.
Interesting theories everyone. I've all but given up on predicting the deaths for this season and they've already surprised me several times with the story but I do have some bad juju going on for a few of the main cast. Hopefully it's a "none of the above" sort of thing.
