We've also been fooled before. TPTB looooove to troll and we know that their idea of major characters are very different from ours. I count major characters as Rick, Carl, Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, Michonne and Carol. Minor players are Sasha, Tyreese, Beth, and Bob. The rest are pretty much scenery and future cannon fodder.
TPTB also tend to overestimate the surprise factor, since so many of us spend time discussing all angles of who's likely to die. They did surprise me by offing Andrea last season, so it can be done, but it's very difficult.
I'm counting out Rick and Daryl right off the bat. Unless one of them want off the show those two are pretty well immortal or close to it. Michonne is an office death pool favorite, but she's not my vote because 1) she's one of Kirkman's favorites and 2) they really haven't explored her. For a major character, she's gotten screen time but no real meat yet. Who were the walker pets she had? Why did she turn on the waterworks when she held the Shane spawn? Who was she before the ZA? I'm counting her out of the death pool for at least another season. I'm predicting she's safe until at least S6.
Carl would be the only death that would really shock me, but I don't see it happening. If he died, what reason would Rick have for going on? Besides,
{Spoiler}hasn't Chandler Riggs been spotted filming lately?
My vote is for either Glenn or Maggie. Personal feelings about the characters aside, they seem to have the least rabid fanbase and haven't really contributed anything all season. The show could lose one or even both of them and lose very little, if anything, except sheer numbers. Of the two of them, I'm predicting that Glenn will bite it, unfortunately. I'd like to see him back to the old, useful Glenn who wasn't Maggie's bitch, but I think they'll keep Maggie for the Tits 'n Ass factor. Not rational, but that's the way TV works.
The rest are all question marks to me. I think there's going to be another herd or something else that will wipe out the rest of the Woodbury leeches and maybe a minor character like Beth. They're bringing in more characters, and when they do that they always seem to wipe out a few important and semi-important ones. Last season Tyreese, Sasha and Michonne were introduced and Lori, Merle, Andrea and T-Dog died.
IDK. I speculate every year and I have about a 25% hit rate, so take my predictions for what they're worth!

To be fair they never said at what point in the comics, they just said still alive. That could be the point they're at now, or the point they're at on the show.
The exact wording was "hasn't died in the comics", so it could be referring to someone who was never in them to begin with. I think Beth will be the only main character to die in these last episodes. I would prefer they continue to develop her for one more season and then maybe kill her, Bob, Tara, etc all at once in a Red Wedding style event at the end of season 5.

Ohhh! Sneaky, hadn't thought of that. If they aren't even in the comic, they haven't died in the comic. Very good analysis AlVan.

Technically, here's the wording, much like what you said: " then one of the main cast members who has not been killed in the comic book series will die during Season 4.".... So that could mean not in the series at all, hasn't been killed at this point in real life, or that hasn't been killed at the point the comics are at with the show.
I think Beth could die too. But that doesn't mean others can't die and I think Carol could as well. There were no filming spottings of Carol with anyone other than Tyreese and the kids and I think they could do a GN twist where the Lizzie kills Mika, Carol kills Lizzie, Carol gets so upset at the death of another daughter that she GN offs herself

Oh Ahrean, from you mouth to the writers ears....
that would be an awesome ending for Carol..... LOL and I can see that happening.... After failing Sophia, losing her, then getting a second chance to do it right, only to find out that she went to far, losses another kid, she goes BSC and feeds herself to a walker... MMB would be awesome in that and My Carol hating heart would rejoice..>LOL
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that no one else from Atlanta is going to die until late season 5/season 6. And if Maggie dies, I don't think anyone from Atlanta is going to die until the last few episodes of the show. They've all come to far, and yet all five still have miles to go IMO.
And also, I really don't understand how anything could make Carol kill herself since she didn't even contemplate suicide after the loss of her daughter. Not to mention that she kept fighting in the tombs despite having every reason to believe that everyone was dead. I think it would just be shoehorning the comics into the show to have her commit suicide just because her name is Carol.

I think it's a different mindset for her now though, and a different Carol. She's not like that other Carol, and I know Gimple loves the comics themselves and loves twisting and bringing them in, in one way or another. It's like how I think they're going to pair her and Tyreese in one way or another, it's very possible they could have her do this too. I'm not a huge fan of this Carol as it is, but I think it would be a unique twist to it. This Carol feels more prepared and is more determined to right the wrongs of before as she sees it, so if she goes to all this trouble to fix her "errors" as she sees them, and fails yet again, it could tip her over the edge.

It would be cool to me if they have her start a relationship with Tyreese and she never admits to him what she did. Then she meets up with either Daryl or Rick and they out her. I can see the suicide if that plays out.

As far as my expectations go, I don't give much value to that article and bet on at least two of the kids, the remaining Woodburians and Carol dying this season. Personal feelings aside, I think the writers do not have any idea what else they could give Carol to do.
If it's not her, I would also vote for Glenn or Maggie… That whole photograph scene, you know?
